छवि को Hverir, Iceland के geothermally active area में लिया गया था। सौर गतिविधि से प्रेरित geomagnetic storms ने Earth’s magnetic field में फंसे energetic particles को high latitudes पर upper atmosphere में प्रवेश कराया, जिससे auroral displays बनते हैं।

ghostly towers of steam and gas, fumaroles से निकलते हुए, greenish northern lights के साथ नाचते दिखते हैं। वर्तमान में auroral activity remains in a high state क्योंकि Sun अभी अपने solar activity cycle के peak से decline के early phases में है।
